Don't put all your eggs in one Basket

'Spread the risk' is the advice of this proverb.  If you put all your eggs in one basket, you will lose all of them in one go if an accident occurs.  On the other hand, if they are put in more than one basket, only some eggs will be damaged if one of the baskets is accidentally dropped.  Thus you should not put all your hopes, chances, or money on only one thing because if that one thing is lost, you will not have anything left.  On the other hand, if you spread your risks, even if you lose out on a thing, you can make it up elsewhere.
